Lucy Tatam - John-Paul Melia

In the Beginning Melia was conceived in 1999 by John-Paul Melia and Lucy Tatam. Combining their interests in modern design and sculpture with a desire to create pieces of true craftsmanship. The focus is on creating beautiful handmade furniture, finished throughout to exceptionally high standards.

The launch

Their debut range was launched at the ’Mode’ contemporary home show, in 2001, where the designs and quality of finish captured the imagination of the public and press alike.

Bright New Things

In 2001, Melia were selected for the ’Bright New Things Awards’ presented by Living Etc. magazine at the prestigious 100% Design Show.

Worldwide appeal

The collection has continued to gain international repute, with collectors, designers and media have all come to appreciate the intrinsic passion of their work. Melia put their life and soul into every piece.
